One of our favorite things about Portland is its tremendous selection of places to eat. This is why on holidays, we make it a point to try new places around town. This Valentine’s Day, we decided to try this adorable place that is near Guy’s work: Bijou Café.
Once we entered the royal blue doors of the restaurant we were made comfortable by the inviting and cheery yellow and blue paint. The grand eating room was open and full of great light. There is a variety of seating for couples, larger groups, and plenty of places at the bar, if you are solo. One of our favorite things about this French-style cafe is that many of their food items are sourced from local companies including the bread, vegetables, and even sauces. It seems as though just about everything on our plates came from somewhere local.
We were pleasantly surprised with everything. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were friendly, and the food was incredible. I chose a mix of Pearl Bakery brioche and cinnamon french toast. Guy opted for one of the specials, which was a roasted squash and yam hash with potatoes, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, and two eggs.
Jusqu'à la prochaine fois!
